Senior Analyst, Political Risk
Alp is a Senior Analyst in GPW’s Political Risk team where he is regularly engaged to advise investors on their operations in Turkey, the Caucasus and sub-Saharan Africa. Alp brings with him a wealth of knowledge in each jurisdiction in which he operates, providing clients with critical insight into the nexus between politics and business, with a focus on how these factors directly impact investors’ business strategies and on-going operations. During his career at GPW, Alp has developed a particular expertise in the extractive sector, providing clients in hostile environments with intelligence and investigative support throughout the deal cycle.
Alp also works regularly with our Disputes Consulting team on complex multi-jurisdictional investigations including asset tracing assignments, internal FCPA investigations and evidence gathering exercises. His insight and source network developed through his political risk advisory work has been invaluable in supporting many of the dispute cases he has worked on.
Prior to joining GPW, Alp lived in France and Japan, where he worked with various NGOs and academic institutions. Alp holds a BA in Social Sciences from Sciences Po Paris and an MA with Distinction in Turkish Studies from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). In addition to his native Turkish, Alp speaks fluent English, Japanese and French.
